MY ROLE

UX/UI Strategy & Product Designer

The challenge

The challenge

Neurodivergent students (including those with dyslexia, autism spectrum conditions, and SpLDs) face severe cognitive overload and frustration when studying dense, complex school textbooks independently.

The process

The process

Role & Leadership: Led as UX Strategist and Product Manager, steering vision and managing a design team. Phase 1 — Alignment & Guardrails (Week 1): Defined research questions, neurodivergent user personas (dyslexia, autism, SpLDs), and GDPR/accessibility compliance standards. Phase 2 — Prototyping & User Testing (Week 2): Guided low-fi wireframing for the "Photo > OCR > AI Summary" flow and 5-tier UI controls; executed qualitative concept testing with students and teachers. Phase 3 — Synthesis & Strategy (Week 3): Analyzed feedback to optimize UX for low cognitive load and balanced feature scope against AI token cost.

The outcome

The outcome

Validated Core Concept: Confirmed high desirability and pedagogical value for the "Photo-to-AI Summary" core flow among neurodivergent students and teachers. Defined Customization Framework: Finalized a 5-tier UI system for vocabulary difficulty and summary length, specifically tailored to lower cognitive friction for students with SpLDs. Design System & User Flows: Developed a cohesive design system and mapped detailed end-to-end user flows, directly derived from the product requirements and user stories managed in Jira.
