MY ROLE
UX/UI Designer
Young professionals and digital natives in the UK find it difficult to monitor and manage their day-to-day finances using traditional apps. They need an intuitive and transparent mobile-first solution that can transform money management and spending analysis from a tedious chore into a simple, educational, and rewarding experience.
The analysis began with a competitor benchmarking exercise of the UK market, focusing on players such as Monzo, Starling, Revolut and Chase UK, to identify best practices and points of differentiation. Through research sessions, I summarised the target audience’s needs by creating two personas who share the common goal of improving their financial literacy: Dave (Gen Z), who focuses on micro-spending, instant feedback and automatic saving, and Alissa (Millennial), who prioritises managing her monthly budget and automatic categorisation. I designed a simple, tab-based navigation structure that complies with iOS standards, ensuring immediate access to key sections: Home, Money, Cashback, Guide, and Explore. I then designed the critical user flows, focusing on reducing cognitive load, particularly for onboarding, sending money quickly and viewing spending statistics at a glance.
Turning spending statistics into a visually striking tool that helps users develop greater financial awareness. An app that instils confidence and transparency through a clear design, which reduces errors when sending money and increasing the user’s sense of security.
